Linux Slackware and Windows dual boot problem

Hey, I just installed Slackware and after that i installed windows xp pro. Before i installed windows I had no problem booting slackware but now after i installed windows I cant manage to boot slackware enymore. When the computer boots it just jumpes over slackware and auto boot windows. How do i fix this?

Bust out your Slackware disc, and boot it. There's a message that will pop up telling you how to boot your Slackware partition. After you get in to Slackware, edit your lilo.conf file in /etc, re-run lilo, and reboot. You should see both in the lilo prompt, assuming you correctly modified lilo.conf

I thought Windows had to be installed before Linux?

Doesn't have to be, but it's easier. If you install windows second you need to use a CD to edit lilo.conf (or the grub equivalent) and reinstall the linux bootloader.

Serriusly? If so i just need to do it over.

And to the first ansver: When i enter the slackware 10.2 cd it just start the install cd, and I dont get any info about how to boot slackware.

Edit: After readin the 3 anwer I found out that I just reinstall everything.

So thanks for all the answers it was a great help.

I know this for a fact, because I'm a Slackware user. The initial boot screen of the first disc tells you how to use the disc to get in to your pre-existing installation. It goes like '<kernel_image> root=<Slackware_partition> noinitrd' or something like that.

You seriously think that linux is that inflexible that you have to reinstall just because windows over-wrote the MBR? No chance...

All you'd need to do would be to boot the slackware install CD, mount your existing partition somewhere, chroot to that directory and re-run lilo.

OK, so that's not that easy... :)
