Linux Server boots and Hangs or Freezes

Dear All,

I tried booting my OracleLinux server manually, and when the server reaches the load screen to display the graphic interface, it stays there for the longest without getting to the gui. I have pull out the drives and placed them back and also clean the memories but all to no avail.

Any assistance on what to do?

Gabriel

Can you switch to a tty screen? Can you log in with SSH?

Just for clarification, do you mean a server running Oracle Linux or do you mean an Oracle server running Linux? In which case what Model of server and what Linux distribution. (I suspect the former)

Is this the boot loader menu or the login screen? What's being displayed?

How long is "the longest"? My system can take up to four minutes to boot, maybe it just seems like that. For some of this time there is virtually no activity showing at all, maybe just a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen then the disk eventually kicks in.
How long have you waited to see if anything is going to happen?

Enough for now!

Play Bonny!
