Linux Scripting


I am newbie i want to know about scripting. There are so many scripting availble so where to start and how to start. Please help me in, where to look for resources and what are the books available for learning linux and scripting

You can learn Perl, Python or Ruby instead of shell scripting.

Rute Tutorial & Exposition as pointed out by chrism01 would be a good start.

Just a few links to aid you to gaining some understanding. For Bash scripting I would start at 4,5 &6 while the other links will enhance your experience;
