Just purchased and working through O'Reilly's 'Running Linux', covers a huge amount cencerning configuration, setup and troubleshooting most aspects of linux installations like SuSE & Red Hat.

A good place to start IMHO.

Not to mention these forums incase things go pear-shaped (which they most likely will, at some point). Forums over at www.justlinux.com are also excellent.

The linux newbie guide at http://linux-newbie.sunsite.dk/ is also worth a look.
