Linux OS to double boot with Win 7
 

Hello I need a Linux O.S. to double-boot with Win7 (already installed). It should be user-friendly, have a tv player (Myth TV?) already installed and as-far-as-possable already configured for my tv stick..Avermedia. Emphasis should be on multimedia…..with good video decode/encode possabilities. I`’m considering either Mythbuntu or Linux Mint. Can anybody offer any help please?

I haven't used the flavors you mentioned.
But using Ubuntu 10.10 for sometime and quite happy with that.
Probably some one with more experimenting mind have tried so many other flavors and could give a better suggestion.

The stock kernel versions are the basis for support unless you compile your own kernel.

just about any modern linux os should be able to dual boot with win7, just remember to install win7 first if it isn't already installed
otherwise
1) defrag the win7 drive (important), preferably from an external source like a bart pe disk
2) use a gparted live cd to shrink the windows partition
3) create at least 2 linux partitions using gparted (one for / and one swap (about the size of your ram or less)
4) use the 'manual' partitioning option and assign the created partitions properly.

although some linux installers can do steps 2 3 and 4 automatically i would recommend at least doing steps 1 and 2 manually
