Question Linux os on an apple mac mini?

I have an older apple mac mini pc with leopard os installed. I would like to install some version of linux on the hard drive of my apple mac mini pc. I want to learn the linux os. Can I install linux on my apple mac mini pc? Which version of linux should I start out using? How do I completely erase my mini mac hard drive?

Thanks,
tennisbum

Depends, is it a PowerPC or Intel?

Have you checked into YellowDog (available on Distrowatch or I can message you the link)?

During the install, you will usually run through a disk partitioning step and that should erase your drive.

Hope that helps a little. Any other questions just ask.

Good luck and keep us posted.
