Linux os
what are the difference between centos, red hat and Solaris?
|
CentOS / Red Hat relationship easily researched through Googling...
https://www.google.co.uk/search?clie...6xfjLU9_tqAkAk Solaris isn't a GNU/Linux, it's a UNIX. Again GIYF. Top result is the rather informative wikpedia entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris...ting_system%29 |
CentOS is now sponsored by Red Hat. Basically, it's Red Hat without any support and without the annual subscription.
Solaris is now a proprietary system: the free, open-source equivalent is OpenIndiana. I believe it can run most Linux software (unlike, say, BSD) but the hardware support is poor. For more information, see http://www.centos.org/ http://openindiana.org/ |
