Linux on vmware

I'm trying to run DeMuDi (Debian core) on vmware. As I run throught the boot process it requires me to set a partition. a - I assumed vmware created a virtual partition, does that mean that if I create a partition for DeMuDi that it will not be permanent?
b - I'm also prompted to install GRUB boot on Hard Disk. If I want a virtual instance of DeMuDi, then I wouldn't want to add it to the boot record, right?
If anyone's ever ran Linux, especially Debian, from vmware, I would really appreciate some info. thanks.

With VMWare, everything is virtual. When installing an OS into a VMWare virtual machine, it is (usually) unaware of the fact that it's running on VMWare... as far as it's concerned, it's running natively on a real PC. So treat it as such. If the installer asks for a partition... give it one. You won't be touching your real system (unless you do something unusual with the VMWare setup itself). If it wants to install a GRUB bootloader, fine! Let it! It won't harm your actual, physical *real* harddrive setup.

Play around and have fun!
