Do I need EZ bios if I'm using Linux?

Got a new PC so now I'm finally going to put Slack 8.? on the old one. The 40GB HD on that one needed EZ bios to work so I have a few questions.
>Do I need to be careful not to screw up EZ bios during partitioning or installation?
>Does EZ bios even need to be there for Linux?
>If not, should I try to remove it?
I was reading about installing Slackware on a dual boot where it was advised not writing LILO to the MBR if EZ bios was there, but now I'm hoping that it doesn't matter on a straight linux box.
Thanks

If you are not planning on dual-booting, then I wouldn't worry about ez bios.
Linux will read the CHS settings from the drive itself, and ignore the BIOS.

Here's a really good write-up that I found on this.

Thanks for that. sounds like ez bios is not even needed. I guess that when I get to the part in the install where to write LILO, I should just specify the MBR.
