Unhappy Linux on Laptop Issue(Video)

Hey ... I also have a Dell Inspiron 8100
P3 1.2 GHz ..
512 MB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 4 440 Go (64mb)
15" UXGA (1600x1200)

and when I installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 on it... the screen is small .. its not the resolution ... the screen it self is a little box now...
It wont give me 32 bit color
and it also will not give me a higher resoulution
Help??

There should be a BIOS option that allows
for screen adjustments... no idea what it's
called in Dells, or where in the BIOS it
lives ... just have a tinker. :}

Cheers,
Tink

naa, its a resolution issue. try booting knoppix, figure out what resolutions you can use from it. then edit your XFConfig file and input the info there. I did it few times myself. It always works.

If it were a resolution issue he'd have 640x480
over the entire screen, not in a little block
restricted to the center of the screen ...

Think about it.

Cheers,
Tink
