Linux Noob, need help booting from a USB.

Alright guys I need some help with this. I have been trying to boot ubuntu onto my MacBook Pro 8 1. I am using this tutorial https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ho...%20USB%20Stick here. I have been able to convert the .iso to a .img file and it said I was able to put the .img on my 16 GB PNY Attache drive. Then when I try to go to boot options by holding alt when I boot up my computer. I just don't even see the option to boot from my USB.

Here is what I am typing in terminal.

You need to start your Mac with the Option key pressed in and then select the USB key.

You don't even have to convert. Use this: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

I mean it says it supports Macs but then it says it doesn't work... Does it mean you can only create a bootable USB but not use it?

Best regards,

Option key and alt key are the same thing I guess I should have specified that for non mac users.

Edit: Sorry about the double post wasn't paying attention.
