Linux Mint Mate 13 - Do nothing when laptop lid is closed
 

Hi,

I've been trying to set my laptop so that when I close the lid the computer/screen stays on. When I am home I connect an external monitor, mouse and keyboard. I went into Screensaver/Power settings and under 'when laptop lid is closed' I only have 3 options (blank screen, suspend and shutdown).
I tried modifying /etc/UPower/UPower.conf and set 'ignorelid' to true but when I closed the lid the computer blanked the screen.

Thanks for posting, what kind of laptop is it, the reason I ask is a lot of laptops just blank the screen automatically when the laptop lid is closed regardless of operating system.

thanks for asking. I was not able to respond before because due to hurricane Sandy I lost power and I just got it back last night. Ok, it is a Dell Inspiron N5050
