Just bought an Acer Aspire One as my 'grab & go' netbook. Love that it's small and lightweight however I've only used Win XP & Vista so I need pointers on how to get the most out of my new 'basic' OS.
I've been told I don't need to install an antiviruse / firewall. Is this true? I'm under the assumption that Linux OS products are not as riddled with the problems of say Win XP or Vista OS.
Could some please explain (simply as possible as I'm a tecno-idiot
) how to use a thumb drive or SD card? What I'd like to do is be able to download music / videos / movies from either my Vista laptop or using my Acer, onto either of those devices so I could then access them when I wanted ......
Also what is the best SD card or thumb drive for my OS? DOes it matter?
What about printers? We have an HP all-in-one 1510xi. Since my littel Aspire One lacks a dvd option I assume I'd need to download the software for any printer from an online source .......
Any and all tips or information on my OS and my little netbook, will be greatly appreciated!
I have to say this, thus far using Linux Lipus Lite is proving to be a delight! What it lacks in the bells and whistles of larger, more powerful laptops, it more than makes up for in its portability and lightness. The user interface seems relatively easy so for (I'm tenacious and just keep trying things till I figure things out). I would at this point, highly recommend this little netbook for anyone who wants a basic computer that isn't a hassle to carry around.
