linux laptop

hi,

i have an old pentium 75 laptop and i would like to put linux on it.
sure you say, no problem, but this laptop is old and does not have a cdrom!

how would i go about getting linux on from scratch and building it up to a fully working network accessable, windows looky like linux box?

are there any howto's on the web that can help me with this, or does any one here have an idea of how to start from scratch?

thanks
antken

If the laptop has network connectivity, then you may be in good shape.

Research the various distributions and find out which of them offer a network install option to the public. Then you'll need to create a boot floppy which sets you up for the network install. Once booted, you'll connect to the server and the install will begin. I would recommend this only if you have a fast internet connection.

You could also look into using an external cd drive.

Depending on what you want to do with Linux on this laptop, you may run into resource issues.
