Cool linux/kde upgrade Questions


First. Thanks for responding to my newbie questions!

1. i'm using kde 1.?, would like to upgrade to the latest kde2.2,
went to kde.org didn't see much help on their install help..
What do i need to do?????

2. i bought my current caldera 2.4 over a year ago, i was thinking of upgrading to the latest linux kernal.. Is it the same kernal for all Distro's, or is their a specific kernal relating to caldera's???

3. Being a newbie am i nuts for evan thinking upgrade?

maybe you are nuts....I'm a newbie and I screwed KDE to hell when I tried to upgrade and now it won't even start. I still haven't been able to fix my system...
