Hi im trying to install linux on my old pc and im nto able to get thru installation process, because i always get this message :
<0> Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init ! does anybody have idea, of how getting thru this ,resp. what shall i do??? thanx |
What distrobution of linux are you using?
I have tried a couple, and I'm still VERY VERY new to this, but I found Fedora 3 to be VERY easy, if you are installing on a fresh machine. That is what I did... Good luck! |
i was trying to install zipslack, mandrake 9.2.
on my other comp i have debian-sarge. but i need some linux on that other pc. but i cant install any linux on it because of that error |
So you are trying to install Mandrake 9.2, correct ?
What are your PC hardware specs (CPU, MotherBoard, RAM, HDD, etc) ? ** Edited Message ** |

BUT, I did a search on these forums for Kernal Panic Attempted to kill init, and I found a bunch of threads on this... Check this one out... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d+to+kill+init Good luck |
Is it an official cd, or did you download it from the web-site and burned it yourself?
If you burned it yourself you should try and check if it works on other PC's. If it doesn't work on the rest than you haven't burned your cd right so you should make another one. Kernel panic reports are very rare so if it does it all the time than something is wrong with the cd or the distribution. |
the cd-s are ok, i ve used them on my other pc and there was no problem.
