Linux Install Tutorial

Hi, I teach a OS course at a high school so I am making some flash install tutorials. I have just finished a Mandriva Linux install tutorial, so if anyone wants to see what an install would be like just follow this link.

http://www.tuxpedia.com/chap2.html

The tutorial is 4 megs so it'll take a minute to load.

Feedback would be nice too. I am open to tips so if anyone notices problems please tell me!

Thanks

Hey.
looks good.

afew comments:
- pronounciation of Mandriva :p this is personal preferance anyway.. and its already too late to change right? ;)
- swap partition. they are _not_ required, but recommended. i think you say to specify 512mb of swap space.. i dont remember what the ratio is, but im pretty sure its supposed to be either half or equal to the amount of ram you have, rather than just "512mb" always.
- root password.. you should reinforce the fact that you should _always_ have a root password... even if they will be annoyed with having to always enter the password.

hmm.. not much else to comment on. i only posted these few comments because you wanted a lil feedback. i wouldnt have said any of the above or probably thought about them if you didnt ask.

Hey there,

Looks good, nice job you did there!

Don't know if this is relevant, but on my 17'' monitor 1024x768 the types you use are way to huge. I get the last third of the text at the bottom of my browser windows where i can't see it.
Maybe you are gonna run this tutorial on a bigscreen, then this wont be an issue i suppose.

Fixed the size problem, way to big. Plus made the file size smaller, Thank you!

Well done hanez - thats one hell of a piece of work.

Ha! I'd say that it might end up costing a bit in bandwidth costs - there a good chance that once you've got the message out it'll be popular for the uninitiated.

Oh and the only thing that I spotted what when your demo was explaining the partitioning - and the root partition is ALWAYS represented with either a "slash" or "forward slash" - your audio says back slash, the picture shows forward slash.

Yup, just double checked and the on screen info shows / but your audio said back slash.

Again, well done, excellent.

regards

John

Yeah, its 2.8 megs now.... Still too big but hard to get any smaller. Seems to me like its mostly audio size and it seems pretty compressed to me.

Backslash, forward slash whats the difference? Hah, I never knew the difference namewise till now... next time I turn on flash Ill have to fix that, maybe I can just edit out me saying "back"

Thanks for the feedback
