Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I m a newbie and I wanted to install Linux on my laptop as second operating system. But I can't!!!
Iíve tried to install SUSE 9.1 personal, worked till the end and then when i change my monitor settings it froze never to work again (boot, reinstall or anything).
I ve tried the last Fendora edition, when i chose a screen it froze too... Ok Iíve found out that the screen should be left to vesa 1024*768, but now I canít even try and reinstall... when the installation begins when starting the X server it freezes...
How can I install linux? Any ideas? Is it even possible on this laptop?
It was the ACPI that was freezing the mashine. Linux obviously did not have a good support of the ACPI and was freezing the mashine. Once i did the instalation with out the ACPI activated it worked fine.
