Linux in Virtual PC.

May I install linux in Virtual PC or VMware?
What linux distribution that can be installed in Virtual PC or VMware?
If cannot, what emulator that can be installed linux.
Thanks.

you can install any distro you like. - save for some obscure bugs I don't know about. the fundamental point of a virtual machine is that to the guest it is just another computer.

What Emulator?

What emulator that I must use?

I've had nothing but success with VMWare. I love it.

Currently running Ubuntu 7.1 Desktop under VMWare on a Vista box, and Ubuntu 7.1 Server under VMWare on an XP box.

If you have multiple network interfaces configured on your windows installation you may need to choose the interface to use from VMWare. Other than that it has worked flawlessly.

Where did an emulator come in to this? Virtualization is not emulation. very different thing.

I think Vortual PC is the Microsoft one right? I heard they don't support anything other than their own OSes inside the VM, but you might b able to get it working with some fiddling.

I suggest either VMWare or VirtualBox.

Vmware will support just about any OS on the market.
