linux headers and verson.h


i searched everywere but i cant find a place that tells me how to install the headers (all teh places only tell u what s-links to set up) but i need to make teh verson.h file so ./configure can tell my linux verson is good enough to compile with. i use kernel 2.4.20 headers, and 1 web site said to run "make mrproper" then "make include/linux/verson.h" but make says there no rule to make that file with can somone plz help me?

exactly what is your problem? what software are u trying to install? what distro? which version? which kernel?

Give more details and specify the error properly

well all i need is the verson.h file so that ./configure and make dont error out on me , it hapens in busybox when usuing "make" and in gcc in "./configure" kernel 2.4.20 right outs teh tar (havent touched it cuse i dont need to install a kenerl, i chroot over to core distro linux from a lnx-bbc cd (that way i can use reiserfs and compile linux from source) as far as i know teh only problem is that darn verson.h file that it says it looks at to check the hearders verson (but there is no verson.h file included in the linux-2.4.20 source as far as i can tell)

I think "make dep" generates the headers

YAY thx a lot it worked, now i can get back to compileing (eh 2nd thought i got to go to bed theres school tomorow ) thx again
