Do you get any error messages before this happens? Does the whole PC lock up or can you use <Crtl><Alt><F1> to get to a console? When you restart the PC are there any errors in your log files (/var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog) from just before the lockup?

We're going to need more info about what is happening.

I don't get any error messages. It locks up the entire pc, keyboard. got to press the restart button.
I will check the log for the error msg.

It happens when I login as root user. but it works with the normal user. I don't find anything in the log files.

Sounds like there's something else going wrong as well. Perhaps there's a problem with your video driver (since it's running a GUI) or with hard disk drivers - Linux is robust enough that if all else is well, something like Java isn't going to kill it...

Hi there machan,

This looks like a known problem with FC4.

This qoute is from:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedor.../msg00226.html

Quote:
Unfortunately, a couple of things do not work well when running eclipse on libgcj on Fedora Core 4.
Firstly, some users have reported hangs with large CVS checkouts (although this may only apply to
bleeding-edge releases from the Fedora Development package repository). Secondly, debugging doesn't
work at all with a libgcj virtual machine, because it's not implemented in libgcj yet - although work on
that is underway.
Hopefully there will be a fix for it soon, if not allready

Sincerely, Jørgen
