Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi, Maybe not the most relevant place but i thought i'd try.
We require a linux expert to help setup a webserver. The server is installed with fedora 3.
Please email me directly for details.
we are willing to pay hourly or a one off fee (as long as we get everything done & we don't exactly know what we need done either)
Thanks for looking
You have got lot of views just because you have entered an eye-catchy line.
Also, None will agree that he is a Guru in any field!
One more thing, you can get a lot of people to get your work done.
Just ask over here what to do and how? You will also need to go through a lot of ref. and so.
Try it out yourself, and get a sound experience ,
Everyone here will surely help you!

We have a part running ecom site on yahoo.
We needed to transfer it to a new host so that we could complete the shopping cart etc.
We signed up with a new host sharing webspace. then we were told we couldn't get ssl on linux and the ssl space would be on a shared windows machine. so we decided to get our own dedicated server.
So we have a Fedora 3 box. standard install. with mysql
we need to migrate our website to the new box and make sure its all working.
Would seem to be easy but i don't understand linux and cannot ftp. can't figure out where to put the files etc. I also don't understand security on linux but know that i need to have a secure server. will happily get a certificate but when i know i have the server running.
So essentially i need someone who's done this sort of thing before and knows where the problems.
Thanks for looking again and bearing with me.. ( i am frustrated because i needed this done yesterday.. i've tried posting on other forum and places like kasamba with no luck) (i'm also keen to learn so that i can maintain this box later on)
As for now, you can go for any proffessional consultancy that provides such services. Just google it and you will know (Obviously I wont advertise any of them) which one you should go for. You will have to give them ther root access and within matter of few minutes it gets done.
Check it out on google!
Keep on studying YOU are going to manage it afterwards. Also ask those professionals what actions they have took on your server so that(a report kind of thing) so that it will keep on helping you.
