Linux-friendly wireless (Fedora Core 6)

I am running Fedora Core 6. I have recently moved to a new area where wireless internet connections are possible. My computer uses an AMD chipset and I would like to know what hardware would work the best with my version of Linux and where I may need to go online to get the appropriate drivers. PLEASE!

What kind of wireless device do you have? This could also be found on-line through the computer's specs if one knew which computer. Anyway, check fedoramobile.org or something.

Welcome to LQ.

When you say "AMD chipset" it's not obvious if your computer already has wireless. Also, is it a desktop or laptop?

I've had good luck with the Intel 2200 wireless and now the iwl4965. The latter seemed to work best after I upgraded my kernel to 2.24.

If you are talking about buying a wireless card, I would suggest some Google searches. Also, search here at LQ.
