Linux fails to boot...

Sorry to start a new thread about linux boot problems but I've been searching around and I can't seem to find a problem like this anywhere else. Odds are I'm just not wording the search right so please forgive me if I'm making someone repeat themselves...

So I just made my system dual boot, installed windows no problem. Of course this changed the MBR, again no problem, I booted linux using a rescue disk. Then I reinstalled lilo to the mbr using lilo -r /(location of mounted root directory) But when I try to start the system it thinks that the root partion is on /dev/hda1 when in fact it's on /dev/hda3. In other words lilo boots up, gives me the choice between windows and linux but if I try to boot linux it starts to boot it, but it tries to mount /dev/hda1 when in fact it should be mounting /dev/hda3. I'm kinda lost on how to fix this. The lilo.conf say root = /dev/hda3 but the kernel keeps trying to mount /dev/hda1. Thanks for taking the time to read through this and I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I look forward to booting my linux system Thanks again...

Oooooo! In case anyone has a similar problem, the file you want to change is /etc/fstab here's a link that helps explain it...

Thanks to everyone who read my message!

Try to do what drzigman advised you above and later re-install lilo.
