Linux doesn't go to desktop
 

I'm trying to use Knoppix, so I boot it up as normal, and whenever i try to boot up to the desktop, it just goes to a black screen. If i boot it up text only, it works, but then i try starting up the desktop, it doesn't. Is it my settings? or my hardware? What's going on?

what is your video card? perhaps it is not supported.

It's a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

it should work, its probly just the distro configuration, with other distros that let you do the config it wouldent be to hard to get it work, just downlaod some drivers and use them, or use the vesa driver (every card these days has vesa suport)

I have the same card and have no problem, are you booting knoopix from the bootable cd-rom of from a harddrive install.
