What kind of a modem is it? If it is a win modem, you will have to find a driver. If it is a real modem, there are how tos that will wlak you trough configuring the serial port and modem.

If you r using pci winmodem www.linmodems.org is all the solutions for you.
Run the Scan modem utility it will detect your pci internal winmodem read the text file it gennerates have driver for it which is mentioned in the text files
