linux distro's that work with nvidia?????
 

I have a question here about linux and the nvidia ethernet card
are there ANY linux distro's that automatically detect this and set it up ?......
So far mandrake 9.2, Knoppix and Suse have not worked with this card
i have tried for the last month to get mandrake to work.. i have read the thread on how to fix this problem but this still does not work for me
i do realise that i can jsut get another ethernet card and install it but i really dont feel like doin that ......... i would love to have a good running linux distro.

They all run fine it is just this one problem, i dont think that i really know enuf to trouble shoot this myself and figure out what i am doin or not doin to get this to work..... if someone has a suggestion on what would be a good distro where i could get it to work and get on the net then i could learn more and mess around with it but having to reboot and run winxp jsut to get onto the net and look something up that i never thought about or to get a new post is getting tiring.

The nvidia driver is a proprietary driver. As a result most distributions refuse to include it because it doesn't fall under the GPL. It is really easy to add afterward on all distributions if you just follow the instructions nvidia provides.

well, those distros mentioned above have probably got the best autodetection around and if they don't autodetect and configure, then most others won't (i doubt redhat will do it or fedora core if mandrake or knoppix don't do it)

unfortuntely, i don't have any other distros to name; what is the name of your ethernet card specifically?

if you let us know, we can be more precise with how to set it up (first thing you will probably need is a driver)
