Linux DHCP client unsuccessful on a windows DHCP served network

It seems the corporate DHCP server will accept all windows machines but not linux (in this partcular case ubuntu hardy). Unfortunately the DHCP server is not managed by us so we need to modify something on the client side (dhclient.conf maybe ?) to be successful. Has anyone had this problem on their networks already?
Cheers
Tom.

This old thread here:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...pening-208017/

may give you some ideas. But, I have to disagree with you doing ANYTHING. If the DHCP server is not managed by your group/organization, then it is up to someone else to provide you with what you need. If the DHCP server isn't functioning, and giving your devices what they need, then it needs to be fixed.

To draw an analogy, it may not be your groups job to get power into the outlets in the wall, but if they don't work, you sure wouldn't be trying to figure out how to modify your stuff to run off batteries...you'd call and tell someone their stuff was broken.
