Linux CentOS installation problem

Hi all, im having a bit of problems installing Linux CentOS on my pc. Basically the system suddenly stops booting from the CD after few secs. The last line says " Kernel panic - not syncing: drivers/ide/pci/atiixp.c:225: spin_lock(drivers/ide/ide.c:c037dd68) already locked by drivers/ide-iops.c/1234" I havent got a clue on what to do. any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance

Looks like a hardware confusion. Not sure what to do here.
Post detail info of system.

One thing you can try on the boot line at install time is use this command.
linux noprobe
