In fact, you might face a lot of trouble trying to use any other compiler than GCC with Linux and I'm pretty sure all the compilers are text-only tools in this environment ... The easiest is to find an IDE that can handle GCC in your place ...
If you want to install Code::Blocks, you'll have to install GTK+2-devel (there might be a few dependencies, like pango-devel and cairo-devel, but YaST should tell you that, even on another machine)

I did it 2 days ago, it's not complicated.
It's recommended that you use the last snapshot (which runs great for production), so you might need to install svn on you SuSE box (YaST should help)
