Linux bootable install dvd

I'd like to make a bootable linux installer DVDR, for an average IDE hard disk/dvd-rom system. How exactly do I go about doing it?

I've downloaded all three Red Hat9 RPMS .iso files, and extracted them into a directory. I went so far as to merge the .TBL files. I'm not sure about the .cdinfo file, as it contains a specific reference line for the "disk number" (1, 2, or 3).

I can't seem to find anyone that has actually done it and lived to tell the tale.

I'm been using Mandrake 9.1, but I'd like to move over to SuSe or Red Hat. Anything is better than nothing, as far as distros go. I'd give it a shot with the Suse, Red Hat, or Debian distros.

Has anyone at all tried to make a DVDR install disk?

Buy SuSE Pro, it comes with bootable install DVD's
since version 7. :)

Since I don't have a DVD-Writer I didn't have a
chance to try it, but I'd assume it's the same as
with CD-R's?

Cheers,
Tink
