Linux boot loader BRUB, LILO) problem.

I have two hard disk. On /dev/hda1 Windows XP has been installed, this hard disk has 4 partition. Other hard disk has three partitions, on one of the partition, dev/hdb I installed Red Hat 9, but for my surprise there is problem. When I try to boot it, it says GRUB error.. and there systems hangs, did not boot.
I again upgraded the Linux with CD just changing the Boot Loader, this time I tried LILO, again when I try to start same problem, only L. comes on screen and hangs.

Now I want to reverse everything and want to come back to Windows XP again. How can I delete Linux boot loader without effecting Windows XP and data on dev/hda1

if you boot from a windows98 start up floppy disk
and type
fdisk /mbr
it will restore the bootloader to the default windows setup

Ummm yeah but then he's screwed when he wants to boot to Linux unless he created a boot disk.....

U might wanna make sure that you partitioned your HDD correctly, could you list them here (size, type(i.e. ext3) and mount(i.e. /usr)).....
