OK, I was getting frustrated as I couldn't find out how to do anything. But then I realized the sound WAS working, you just had to have the volume turned way up to the max, then I could just about hear it. Hope that's not how it'll be in an installed Linux.

Knoppix's defaults are lower than what my audio is (after setting it up) on all my distros. My SBLive output is louder than my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card.

All on-board sucks and is very noisy in my experience. They put it right next to the CPU for criminy sake!

This may be stuff that will fly right over my head but could I add a new card to a 5 year old machine? Something that would run better?
