Linux as file server/media gateway

NewB here

This is what I want to do.

Use Linux for a file server / media server and a wifi router gateway.

Im going to use this Linux which will be connected to a DSL Ethernet modem and will have a wifi card installed.

Will have a WinXP MCE which will source media files / stream online internet radio and video from the Linux server via wifi

Will have a XP desktop & notebook share net connection via wifi.

Should be able to configure the linux pc via web interface.

Total Newb here, just have some experience installing & using Linux

Would appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance

Wifi Router / Media & file server

Thanks for the quick reply

Use the distro you are most comfortable with - you say you have some experience with linux

Do you think you are the first to set up something like this? Theres loads of info on the web, use google, you are about to walk down a very well trodden path.

And last of all - Welcome to LQ

PS Whilst we are all glad to help solve problems you can't expect us to hold your hand through every single last little thing

The title of this thread has been changed.

The file server part is easy - you need Samba. For administration you can use something like Webmin (iis secured correctly). What you should look into, however, if the wifi card (driver for it, actually).
