Linux antivirus?

do i need an antivirus for Linux>? im not sure what virus are that attack linux systems, but i would imagine an antivirus program wouldnt be a bad idea...is their one?

That depends: is it a mail server or not?

mail server for windows machines -> yes
otherwise -> no

If it's your machine. Don't open an attachment you don't know what is and you'll be fine. You'll probably be fine anyway since most viruses don't infect linux ;)

its not a mail server, just a work station i guess.. i have win2k/RH 7.2 dual boot.

what about spyware?

darthtux 11-26-2003 10:34 PM

To prevent spyware you need a firewall like netfilter
http://www.netfilter.org/
and tripwire is always a good idea if your interested in security

One nifty feature of LinuxQuestions is the Search button at the top of the forum. You can quickly find threads that will answer many questions. ;)
