Linux agent development
 

Hi all,
I am going to develop the linux agent (c/c++) for monitoring system health , this agent collect the information about the , CPU usage , memory usage , process running on that server , port information etc., how to get this information from linux kernel , pls help me

You will probably consider this to be anything other than help, but I can't see why this is a good idea. There are a number of programs that do exactly this kind of thing (nagios, munin/monit even ksysguard).
Maybe here aren't many that do everything.

Wouldn't the whole world be a better place if you wrote useful 'plug-ins' for existing systems? If so, maybe you would like to look at what exists?

This linux agent is the part of the NMS (Network Monitoring System) , this agent(going to develop) give the system information (like service running on the machine , process information ,port etc.,)to the NMS. pls give me the guide lines , how to get this information from linux kernel.
