linux admin questn

i m at remote location and the linux server in production is down what i have to do ?

you could use traceroute to see where the problem is, e.g. a router in front of your server may be down. if the problem is somewhere in the datacenter
(assuming that's where your server is), you can call them to ask whether they are aware of any issues, or just ask them to take a look in your cabinet.
is this a homework question, or are you stuck having to solve something over your head? and, welcome to LQ.

hi Achhar, you said you cannot ping, are you pinging your internal ip of your linux server from a remote location?

Welcome to Linux Questions!

You say the server's down.? If it's something like an HP Proliant you may be able to access it via the iLO (Integrated lights out)manger. If you can you'd be able to at least read some logs and try and reboot it from there. Are there other servers on the same site which you can access to prove the network? Any othrs missing which could tie the problem to a switch/router? Failing that, you may either need to get someone local to go to the server and check it visually or get in a car/bus/train/plane and do it your self! :( If the power's out you'd need local people to tell you. You can't do anything remotely.

Play Bonny! :hattip:
