Lilo error just printing LI and stops
Hi.
I've just installed Debian Woody, and made a apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade. Then when ever i boot, it just ends up printing LI on the screen and stops. Then I have to use my rescue CD, to get into Debian. I've google around for an answer, but with no luck. Anyone knows of a solution to this problem. Im running with the 2.2.20-compact kernel, wich i later on would like to upgrade to 2.4.25 kernel, but i guess its best to have the most problems ruled out before messing around kernel compiling. |
The first thing I'd try after having booted debilian
via CD is to run lilo on the up & running machine? Cheers, Tink |
I remember a similar problem.
Try messing arround with the LILO configuration files. If it doesn't work... Well.. Just do it the windows way - format. I hope you don't have any data you would need later. If there is - back it up. |
LILO may be configured to use a partition that isn't set as bootable. (cfdisk) I don't know why apt-get would have done this but the LI just hanging is a common LILO install problem-
