Hey guys,
I need help configuring lilo so windows xp is the default, my gf can't use linux & wants xp to boot as default instead of my linux install.

My lilo looks like this :-

Quote:
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
default="pclinuxos"
keytable=/boot/livecd.klt
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-oci6.mdk-i586-up-1GB
label="pclinuxos"
root=/dev/hdc5
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.12-oci6.mdk-i586-up-1GB.img
append="noapic nolapic acpi=ht nomce psmouse.proto=imps splash=silent"
vga=788
read-only

other=/dev/hda1
label="Windows XP SP2"
any help would be hugely appreciated.

try replacing default="pclinuxos" with default="Windows XP SP2".
Anyway you can do that in PClinuxOS control center GUI.
Boot->configure the lilo boot loader->read what is there.

Probably not related to lilo.
Check for virii and spywares and self-installed programs and all the usual stuff in windows...

before you do that, make a floppy of lilo, because you will have to reinstall lilo.

dd if=/dev/hda of=bootsector bs=512 count=1

you may need that to restore lilo from windows (coz when you reinstall windows it blows up the mbr and you won't be able to boot to linux without restoring your lilo mbr)
http://www.chrysocome.net/dd
or you may also make a linux boot disk or use a liveCD or just use your PClinuxOS cd.

then to restore the mbr,
dd if=bootsector of=/dev/hda

I've sorted it, what i did was boot up the Windows XP cd & repaired the MBR, then i repaired Lilo & reinstalled it to the MBR & now everything works perfectly.

Thanks for your help
