libmotif3 is a package, one of the files included is libXm.so.3
install with 'apt-get install libmotif3'
or use synaptic.
Good luck !

The command 'apt-get install libmotif3' will download and install the package.
So will 'synaptic' (will be available in your Menu > System)
Downloading packages not using the "build-in installers" should be "last choice"

You didn't have to start a new thread. Enable the multiverse repository and then try installing `libmotif3`.

Things to do to get more packages in your repo :
1) In Gnome : Menu > System > Administration > Software Sources
(Use this first, is a nice little tool)
2)'apt-cdrom add' will add all your "Install cdrom's / Install DVD"
3)'apt-get update'
Try it, and "libmotif3" will probably be there, have a look in synaptic.
