Smile libfcoe_device_notification; NETDEV_UNREGISTER lo

HI All,
I have installed Centos 6.0 in my machine.It was working fine till last friday.Suddenly I am facing issue when system boots in stops and says " libfcoe_device_notification; NETDEV_UNREGISTER lo " and no GUI interface display.

When in checked the error log in /etc/X11/xorg.0 it says intel_drv_so is unloaded and installed the driver.After that i am getting gui display but no keyboard and mouse are detecting.

if any one have same issue and resolved please reply to me

This error is very strange because lo, your loopback network interface, is being unregistered. The FCOE event is probably a harmless notification, but losing your loopback interface is not good. Try ifconfig lo to see the state of lo. It should be UP LOOPBACK RUNNING or similar.

I have this error too (the boot process seems to freeze)
It occurred after an update from the initial installed kernel 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64
to the latest (220.2.1)

I haven't found out much more about it yet (I guess that I'll have to try starting with noquiet to see where it sticks.
Until then I'm using the older kernel (and have made this the default for now)

I've got this message today for the first time. But according to dmesg it happened few hours after the startup. The system works fine. In ifconfig lo everything looks normal, the UP LOOPBACK RUNNING is present.
Maybe the error is related to the new 3.2 kernel that I updated yesterday.

In the kernel 3.2 source there is a file drivers/scsi/fcoe/fcoe_transport.c with the following lines:
Code:
/**
 * libfcoe_device_notification() - Handler for net device events
 * @notifier: The context of the notification
 * @event: The type of event
 * @ptr: The net device that the event was on
 *
 * This function is called by the Ethernet driver in case of link change event.
 *
 * Returns: 0 for success
 */
static int libfcoe_device_notification(struct notifier_block *notifier,
                                    ulong event, void *ptr)
{
        struct net_device *netdev = ptr;

        switch (event) {
        case NETDEV_UNREGISTER:
                printk(KERN_ERR "libfcoe_device_notification: NETDEV_UNREGISTER %s\n",
                                netdev->name);
                fcoe_del_netdev_mapping(netdev);
                break;
        }
        return NOTIFY_OK;
}
However, this sfcoe_transport.c doesen't exist in kernel 2.6.38.7 that I previously used.

Hi!

I know that this is quite old post, but anyway I wanted to ask if anybody found solution for this? I have the same entries in syslog file, there are a lot of them. In general it looks like everything is working just fine, but anyway, I'm curious, what is this notification?

Using Slackware 14.

Thanks!
