LG Burner not Compatible??

I wrote to LG to ask if changing to Linux would cause a problem with the running of my new burner, model # CD-RW/GCE-8320B.
This was their reply:-
"Yes it will unless you contact the people at Linux and ask if they have compatible recording software and drivers. The drives are IBM PC compatible with the driver that are supplied."
So does this mean when I decide what Linux I want to install I have to make sure they have a driver for this?
Or is there another way to find it?
Thanks very much.

Just by the reply you can tell that the answer is from a corporate know-nothing or a helldesk drone. These people are paid specifically to put people in endless loops... believe me I work with some...

Contact people at Linux... anyone got the contact number for Linux Inc. :p

Anyway, back to the topic... your cd-rw drive will have absolutely no problems if it can play/burn CDs on Windows... it will be a pain if its an external USB, but I think yours is an internal IDE one, right?

Thanks very much, I guess I should have searched a bit myself before posting. Just panicked;o0
I have been trying to make sure most of my stuff is OK for the change over, the only thing I have doubts about is my 5 year old hand-held page scanner. Logitech has abandoned support and I don't know if it'll work.
