I did some googling. Lexmark does not supply any drivers for linux for this printer. I also checked here -->http://www.linuxfoundation.org/colla...s/openprinting
and there is no driver there either. Googling show others with the same frustration. As I see it, you have several choices.
1. Stay with windows for printing. This could be a sand alone system, or you could install v-box, install a version of windows, and the windows drivers.
2. Find a waste bin, and install the x4550 there.
There are several brands these days that support linux well. HP, Brother, and Epsom come to mind. Always check out the manufacturers web site for drivers before you buy, or the link I posted above in printer listings. There are lots of printers that work very well.
I gave up on Lexmark a long time ago due to their lack of linux support. I also found their ink very expensive. I bought a Brother printer, and have not looked back.
