Question Lenovo S510p: Any information on installing Kali Linux.

I have tried installing the newest version on Kali Linux on my laptop. I have these specs...

Lenovo S510p (touch)

Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i3
RAM-6GB
System Type-64-bit, x64 based OS

Windows 8.1

It gives me errors with the kernels, ive tried i686 i486 i386, it wont start when I usb unstall 64 amd version, it starts with i386 but the kernel wont run the persistent setup because it gives me an error message about the kernel. i486 just worked all weird on my laptop. Any links or step by step guides to the BEST methods of installing the write version for persistent mode, any info on MAIN things to upgrade right away from the command box like audio, graphics, add-on tools, updates etc... im trying to get all that before I head out of town in less the 48 hours with little time to be online for the moment. Id greatly appreciate your responses.....

Your system will have EIF bios. You will have to turn off secure boot. W 8.1 will have been installed with it on.

Once that is done, you will need to read through the installation docs on the distro of choice, to find out how to install to a EFI system. This is not a trivial task, it will take some time and reading on your part.

Why Kali? This distro is intended for advanced users doing penetration testing. By your question, you appear to have little, if any experience with a linux system. ( I'm not trying to be insulting, just realistic ). I would suggest you start with a distro intended for new users, gain some experience, and then see if you could install Kali.

The distros documentation is always the best place to learn about updates to audio, graphics etc. Look there.

Kali really dose NOT have any docs on this
as a kali user you are EXPECTED to have the SKILLS already to WRITE the tutorials on doing this

Kali is a specifically designed operating system
FOR USE BY EXPERTS

as in someone with a 6 year degree in computer sciences and computer network security and in computer forensics

The Kali operating system has TWO main uses

the first :
is for pen testing by security professionals.
professionals that could teach me a thing or two yet

and second
"script-kiddies"

also ALL the tools can be installed on Debian 7
or linux mint or even CentOS 7

Kali is just a collection of custom tools

as to using Kali:

Have you read the documentation on the kali web site?
https://www.kali.org/official-documentation/
Have you registered on the kali forum?
http://forums.kali.org/
Are you planning on enrolling in the Offensive Security courses ,
and taking there classes in SECURITY testing ?
