Smile least squares with gnuplot


yo there! someone could point a how to make a lineal regression with gnuplot, I was told this can be done but I dont understand how

lets say I have my data in gedit [X] [Y], well exactly how it has to be done?I have to fit these data in to a line like y=mx+b
I enter gnuplot, then what?
