ldap_add undefined attribute type (17) additional info attribute type undefined
 
Hai to all,

While am trying tp add in ldap database i am getting the following error.

[root@Testing openldap]# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=testdomain3,dc=com" -f yuvraj.ldif -w secret
adding new entry "dc=testdomain3,dc=com"
ldap_add: Undefined attribute type (17)
additional info: employeeNumber: attribute type undefined


[root@Testing openldap]# cat yuvraj.ldif
#Entry 1
dn: dc=testdomain3,dc=com
description: LDAPDB
objectClass: top
employeeNumber: 1000515
nationality: India
fn: yuvraj
sn: singh
sex: Male
age: 31
o: Cricket
ou: Batsman
displayName: singhy
uidNumber: 5155555
cn: yuvraj singh
userPassword: s


Please suggest.
Distro : CentOS 5.5

Again, as with several of your other threads, reading the documentation would have solved your problem, as would a quick Google search. You need to try these things first, before posting questions. As clearly stated in the OpenLDAP docs, you need an empty line before each line starting with "dn:"
LDIF separates entries by blank lines.

Also, you rarely, if ever, have posted a follow-up or even said thanks for anyone helping you.

I have given an empty line between two dn entry. After that also the error came.
Anyway i have googled and solved the issue. Thanks for your reply too.

Really?? So since you have solved the issue, why don't you post what you did to solve it? You came here for help, as others will also, so posting the solution would be a good thing.

Nothing else i just added the objectClass which includes the attribute of employeeNumber.

Yes, but you don't say anything about which "tool automation" to use...and posted a link to configure an LDAP server, which the OP already had done. Also, this thread was not only already resolved, with the solution posted, but had been closed for two years at this point. Please see the LQ Rules about reopening old threads and/or posting without adding any new information.
