LDAP issue

Hi guys,

I have CentOS6 x86_64. I have installed 389 ldap service in two desktops but all clients point to one ldap only say A. when client computers get restarted it is not able to login using ldap authentication for single user only(who uses that machine). I restart nscd and nslcd service also but of no use. when i change ldap IP in "authconfig-tui" to point client to B ldap server then that user is able to login. Again i change ldap client machine IP to point ldap as A. then it works fine. Could any one help in this case. when i change ldap client ip in "authconfig-tui" then it also restarts "nscd & nslcd" service.

That's a strange one. My experience is with OpenLDAP, not 389DS. Are you using SSL? I've seen things like this happen when a client can't negotiate a connection to one server and keeps trying rather than failing over to the back-up server. Have you looked at the logs on both the client and server side to see if this is happening? If you do a "ldapsearch -x" from the client, are you able to enumerate the LDAP directory?
