LCD Problem!!!!

Hi all!

A little about myself. I'm from the Milwaukee area in Wisconsin. I attend a local tech college in computer networking administration. During my 2 years I have been introduced to Linux and absolutley love it. In class we have been using the RH 9 and Fedora Distos. I have personally installed Suse, CentOS, Knoppix HDD install, Kanotix HDD install. Mandriva 2006, Xandros 3.0, tried Gentoo  and currently have Salckware up and really like it. However out of all these install I have tyhe same problem, just after boot the actual desktop in about 1/4" to the left or the right. I need to keep using auto-config on the monitor to resolve this. This never happened under Windows, what can I do in Linux to fix this annoying problem.

Good to be a part of this community!!! Linux Rocks

Are you using a VGA or DVI connection? On a DVI connection, these problems should not occur. If you are using VGA, try adjusting your refresh rate and/or resolution.

I am using the VGA mode that was offered to me in the setup of Slack. I am not sure what DIV is. Very NOOB to slack and to linux although I really enjoy it.

I meant DVI...sorry

This is DVI. My question was about the interface between the card and the monitor.

Hi

My connector does not look like that it's got to be the vga then.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux-Newbie and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

You may try to solve it with xvidtune. First install it, then run it (important: from terminal). Use Left-Right buttons to move the screen, then Test it from time to time. When you have a good result, press 'Show'. Copy the line it prints in the terminal. Tell us when you have it.

Learn something new every day. I'd never even heard of xvidtune. :) Seems like something that might be useful on one of my systems.
