Latest version is 10.10
However latest LTS (long-term support) version is 10.04

I probably read the thread poster wrong. I thought he wanted to know the version she/he is using.

Reviewing all of this I see that there could be many interpretations to this question.

Being a Linux distro, Ubuntu "releases" covers an entire spectrum ranging from "nightly builds" for the developer team (VERY experimental - currently V 11.04) to the "regular builds (10.10) and the various ultra stable "long term support" version (10.4).

One of the "Feature/Problems" of Linux is that there is NO "bottom to the rabbit hole" - you can access and change ANYTHING.

In addition there are all kinds of speciality builds and versions like MedUbuntu and EdUbuntu

The best way by far to sort out which one is right for you is to go to the Ubuntu website and keep digging!

That being said, if you are a newbie then you likely want the 10.10 32 bit version - again see the website for details.

One of the strongest features of Ubuntu is a very comprehensive support website which covers the basics and most common add ons in great detail.
