Latest Knoppix DVD hangs at boot sequence
I downloaded the newest Knoppix DVD and I lack experience with this distribution or any Linux distro for that matter. Knoppix hangs on booting the live cd -- I am "Windows POOR" at using commands but there must be some that can get the boot to complete. I have ATI/Radeon Integrated Graphics on an AMD Athlon64 HP Desktop computer (just a year old). I need some practical help -- the cheat codes are in the Boot Options screen but which are relevant?
I was able to get into the Knoppix Distribution through "Failsafe" but my mouse (a Logitech Marble Track Mouse) was misidentified as a Logitech Explorer Mouse and on the accelerated version as a Logitech Wheel Mouse. The mouse was totally dead and not operable on any of the incarnations of Knoppix that I have. How can I get Knoppix to properly identify my mouse? Also, my keyboard does not work with Knoppix - is there a solution for this as well? Any and all help is greatly appreciated as I want to explore several versions of Linux by using the Live CD technique. :newbie: |
Are there error messages before Knoppix "hangs"? These can help with the correct solution.
I use Knoppix on various computers. At times I have had to use the "knoppix no apic" and "knoppix no dma" codes. |
What is the complete name of the version?
checkout here. BTW, you will need to learn the command line interface. gl |
